Our wedding
ceremony and reception will be held at the Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland, USA, on September 9,
2000 from 5-12 PM. You and your significant other are cordially invited. We hope you may join us to celebrate
this special day. Please mark this day on your calendar and begin to make your plan.
September 9 is a
great day to get marry in Chinese tradition, since it symbolizes “last
forever” (9 - sounds like forever). Last year, we was talking about
getting marry in 9/9/1999. This year, we will make it a reality on
9/9/2000.
We will also have
an engagement and wedding reception in Taiwan for our family and friends
there on December 24, Christmas Eve (her family and friends) and December
31 New Year Eve (my family, her family, and our friends)
We had been
trying to announce our engagement and wedding plan since day 1, but it was
more complicated than we thought. First of all, Maggie’s house was broken
in on the 3rd week after our engagement. The wedding and
engagement rings I just bought for her were both stolen. We were very
upset, since our home owner insurance only covered 20% of our loss. We
didn’t realize that we should have bought the additional insurance for the
Jewry. This took us some time off from thinking about and planning for the
wedding.
Secondly, we
couldn’t decide the date since we were struggling between the availability
of our family. My initial thought was to have the wedding in summer time,
so my family may come to our wedding, but Maggie’s family can’t make it
since her twin sister is having a baby in August. She really wanted her
twin sister to be on her side when she get married. Finally I had a chance
to talk with her and my family in Taiwan in March and decided that we will
get married in the US first. However, we will have an
engagement and wedding reception in Taiwan to celebrate with our family back home.
September is the
ideal month to get marry in Maryland since the weather is cool and the
color is beautiful. However, by the time when we had a chance to look
around the wedding reception site in April, many ideal places have been
booked through October. We were lucky to get the reservation from
Brookside Gardens, since a couple just canceled their reservation. Now we
just have to worry about planning a good wedding reception.
Finally, we’d
like to communicate our engagement and wedding plan via Internet. We
thought this will mark the 21th
century way of wedding communication. I know Kip and Chris have been keeping our engagement news as a secrete and reminding me to share with our friends in P&G many
times, but we never had a chance to work on the web design. Now I finally
find the time to work on our contents since I am lying on the bed due to
my back injury from the yard work in the memorial weekend.
